#QuiltsForPulse Call for Blocks
Posted in Guild Projects •
VTMQG has pledged a quilt to the Orlando MQG’s collection of quilts for the victims of the mass shooting that happened at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12. If we can make more than one, that would be wonderful!
The Blocks
We’re following the request of the Orlando MQG in making 10″ heart blocks in a rainbow of colors. The hearts should be made in bright colors with a low-volume background fabric.
To meet the requested minimum size of 50″x60″, we’ll need 30 blocks at a minimum.
Here’s the recommended tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew:
Logistics
Please bring your completed blocks to the July meeting (7/10). We want to make sure we have time to construct the full quilt (or quilts) and fill in any colors we’re missing.
We are also looking for volunteers to piece the blocks together as well as donations of backing and binding fabric.
Dona and Nick have pledged to quilt one if we create at least 30 blocks! Anya has pledged to quilt another if we double that.
Not a VTMQG member? We welcome your blocks if you’d like to bring them to our July meeting. Otherwise, if you are interested in making an entire quilt on your own or making blocks for Orlando, see the links below for more information.
