Workshop: Cork and Washable Paper Zippered Pouches

– About the Workshop: Spend an afternoon with VTMQG’s Rachael Arnold, discovering new sewing mediums – washable paper and cork! In completing this useful zippered-pouch project, you will receive all the tips and tricks on how to work with these malleable, washable fabrics. Attendees will master zip pouch zipper installation and have the opportunity to explore fastening rivets. Find your favorite new sewing medium to elevate future projects!
– Supplies:
. 1 fat quarter of quilting cotton, linen, or canvas*
. Working sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (pins, snips, etc)
. Neutral thread
. Contrasting or coordinating thread for topstitching
. Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
. Wonder clips, Magic clips or similar
. Marking pen or pencils that will show up on your fabrics
. A fresh universal or microtex 80/14 or 90/12 needle
. Craft or paper scissors
. An extension cord
*Included kit supplies: light brown washable paper and a khaki colored zipper with gold or antique brass hardware. Choose your supplied fabric accordingly.
Optional addition: $5 cork kit fee – includes cork, interfacing, and zipper, plus cork scraps to practice on.
A few additional kits may be available the day of class on a first-come, first-served basis, $5 for washable paper, $8 for cork, cash or check made out to VTMQG.
